Smells like Christmas!

So even though I still haven't had my Summer Holidays, I'm already thinking about Christmas. First because I have to, but also because I can't wait. AND I'm already late!! Usually for the store, by this time, we're starting to make the christmas packages, this year I still haven't decided what color papper I should get... Also, this year I have decided that, for a select few, I'll be making their gifts. I intend to report my advances here, but it will be tricky, because I don't want to give too much away for the few people that actually read this.
It's quite the dilema... I think I'll either post the work that isn't intended for my loyal readers (wink wink) or I'll just document it and post it after Christmas, but it wont really be much fun that way, and I wont have many non-related news to post, so I think I'll go with my first option :)

Cutting is under way, frustrating as usual, I have NO precision skills, it's sooooo anoying!!

... My new fabrics!

Yesterday I did a bit of shopping, went to that store where I always buy more than I intended to...
I bought one charm pack for my hexies, with some greens and blues and yellows and oranges
Bought my very first Christmas charm pack!!!
And two fat quarters on sale that I thought were really gorgeus!
Hi Cyberspace!
So here it is, my very fisrt hexie top complete. Isn't it a beauty? Still haven't decided how to finish the project, having way too much fun doing the hexagons and sewing them together... Also, I'm much more worried about the lack of fabric, which makes it impossible to do another one of these with 90 different patterns...

So on that note...

Oh, yes, about that hexie obsession...

I've actually managed to decide a purpose for all those hexies I have lying around that were so much fun to do.
Basically I'm doing table mats, in hexagonal shape. I'm just a bit worried about how I'll finish the ends, deciding if I should just get some fabric and apliqué the hexies or just put some bottom, some filling and bind it with som sort of material...
You can already see it shaping up, just one of a few :P

Finished!!

Hi Cyberspace, again, I know I haven't been around, but I'm finding it hard to muster the energy to come here and write to you properly.

I managed, however, to  finish my second project and make some progresses in my hexie obsession.
Here it is, in all it's glory, my mini quilt.
It's white and red on one side, and all red in the back

Sorry about the photo quality. Also for the first time, I tried using white thread for the front and red thread for the back, hoping that this way I would be able to hide my imperfections a bit better. Trust me, there were many many imperfections. But it was a very good exercise and learning experience. Also, I think it will be really usefull for those cold-sitting-on-the-sofa evenings, since it's really warm and comfy.

As you can see, my kitties totaly aprove...
Can't tell you how good it feels to finish a project. Even if it's far from perfect, ir was completely my creation and it feels really good to actualy finish a project, something I'm really not very good at... I've even managed to wash it after its conclusion and all worked out jut fine!
Don't know if you can see the detail in this particular photo, but I have different red patterns, some solid, some big polka dots, some small and uneven poka dots. Also, you can see the sort of quilting I chose, I made diagonal squares. It's my favourite patern of quilting, it makes it look realy luxurious (or as luxurious as it can look...)
So there you go, one down :) May it be the begining of many more!

I'm such a sucker...

...for my cats. I will spend much more money on them than on myself. So lately I've been thinking they need a new scratch pole/playground. And today I bought one! And they absolutely loved it! Totaly worth it!!
First Impressions
Mushi chose the top bed
but she tried...
every seat in the place...
So this is my hexie progress so far.
I've been having a hard time actually finding time to dedicate to them. I still don't really know what I'm doing with them, probably table mats for the kitchen table.

I am such a proud momma!

I have just completed sewing my first couple of hexies and I love them! They are too cute for words! I wanna do this for the rest of my life!!

You know I mean business...

...when I actually clean a space to create my very own crafts corner. I have a huge desk, that's usually covered in paper and other stuff I tend to have lying around. But not anymore!

My desk, in my living room. Usually I sew siting at the sofa.
My little sewing machine. It's a JL Mini I got at John Lewis
Regarding my sewing machine, I know it's really small and amateurish. However it is really cute and suits my immediate needs just fine. I suppose if I evolve this hobbie, the sewing machine will have to evolve with me. I don't keep it out, because I don't need it daily, specially now with the hexie project. Also, I don't trust my kitties to behave around it...

Speaking of my hexies, I have now reached 250 and so I decided it was time to start sewing a few together. I feel really insecure about how I'll join patterns. I guess we'll have to see...
My hexies. All 250 of them!
